This Tri-State Marker is the most remote one I’ve been to yet. My brother and I took Hwy 191 north 10.3 miles out of Dutch John, Utah. We then turned east on Browns Park Rd. for 15.1 miles. This Tri State Benchmark was a fun one to get to. We took Manhead Rd. North 16.4 miles of Highway 30 which is just southeast of Bear Lake, Idaho. Then we turned west on to a 2 lane track through Cristy Canyon and went 3.32 miles and then turned north on another two lane track for another .37 miles. The Southwestern corner of Wyoming survey benchmark. This is the state boundary between Wyoming and Utah. The road is drivable in any vehicle all the way to the monument. We took Beach ave. which is also County Rd. 164 south out of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming for 12.1 miles to the sign for the Tri-State Marker. From there you’ll need to walk to the actual marker. Be careful and stay on designated trail because it is private property on both sides. The replica and marker is located 160 feet east of hwy 24 and hwy 281 in Osborne, Kansas. The real Geodetic Center lies about 12 miles north of Lucas, Kansas and about 10 miles southwest of Tipton, Kansas. The Meades Ranch station is on private land, with no public access. My brother and I visited here on August 23rd 2023. We took highway 281 north for 3.0 mile of highway 36 till 191 road. Then went west on 191 road 1.0 mile to the monument. This place has a small playground and a small church on property.
Boone’s Lick Muzzleloaders Rendezvous 2023 in New Florance, Missouri. It was HOT but not as hot as last year. Had some great shooters at this event. I believe there were 40+ shooters in attendance this year. I came in 4th in the smoothbore catagory! Looking forward to next years.
We found some free camping just outside of Bear Lake in Northern Utah. There were some ATV’s and Side by Sides driving through the forest roads. That did not stop us from enjoying our time here. If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and explore this area. September is a beautiful time to visit!
