This year we decided to camp at the Expo for the Green Country Hamfest. They do have a small county run campground next to the Expo center. My wife and I left before the sun even thought about coming up from west central Missouri. We took nothing but back roads all the way to Bartlesville, Oklahoma. You say why Bartlesville? Well we actually had another event that we wanted to attend before the hamfest and besides the hamfest did not actually. open to the public till 4pm that evening. YES we went on a Friday!

After our other event was finished we made our way to Claremore, Oklahoma. We arrived there about 5:30 pm. We quickly set up camp in our rooftop tent on the Jeep and walked next door to checkout the event.

I also managed to pic up a couple of tubes for some projects. There was plenty of tubes to be had at this event!

We did rain… LOTS of rain. It poured down rain for about 18 hours. We did manage to stay dry even in our CVT rooftop tent.

Yes we did order pizza and had it delivered to the campground not once but twice in the same day!

I did end up getting a new to me ICOM IC-706 mkiig transceiver. I had it tested out on the testing bench by a third party by the front door. Everything checked out good. The price was right and I was in the market for an all band all mode transceiver. Since I do love my original 706 this was a slight upgrade. The IC-706 mkiig has 100w on 160m-6m and 50w on 2m and 2w on 70cm! I am looking forward to doing some VHF contesting/roving with this transceiver.

Also picked up this oscilloscope. It did power up when turned on but further examination is in place to see if everything will work on it.

Of course Sunday came and it was bright and sunny out. We left about 9:30 am and took nothing but back roads all the way back home to west central Missouri.
