I never have tried WPX RTTY yet. I previously learned that there was a 2019 CQ WPX RTTY Contest the weekend I happened to be at my in laws. Yours truly setup an off center fed dipole in the backyard about 10 foot off the ground. Then I tuned around to see what I could find. This RTTY contest is all new to me. I tried to setup the software and macros is always cumbersome for this fella to figure out. I used
MMTTY V1.70K software to decode to signals received by my ICOM 706. In addition, the process of setting up the software and setting up the macros frustrated me so much that I didn’t even transmit. I did manage to learned how to receive the signals properly.
Maybe next time this contest comes around I will be prepared for it. In addition, all this digital amateur radio is fun and new to me but it keeps me wanting to learn more about it.
I received / decoded signals from far away as central South America. Not to bad considering my OCF dipole was bout 10 foot off the ground in the middle and about 12 foot above ground at the ends.
